TABLE RUNNER

The backing of this table runner is a very heavy flannel and it is very soft! My friend's mother had a lot of this kind of flannel and she gave me a bunch of colors. I really am in love with this Oatmeal color. I have now used all of it in various projects, I wish I had about 4 more yards.
These are the lambs tongues. Often times on wool table runners these little "hanging ends" are called lambs tongues....and if you have ever see a real lamb's tongue, you know they really do kind of look like this! I am off to NY city to see my daughter and family. I will post my pictures of the NY Christmas windows when I get back. I wish you all could be in NY at Christmas, it is a VERY wonderful time of year to be there. See you next week!

SHOPPING AT HOME...and I don't mean the internet!

I needed something for a space on my kitchen counter and didn't want to go buy "one more thing." So I looked around my house for some....you know...."cream decorations!" I had these two houses that were NOT cream, but because of my painting abilities and determination, they are now!!! I added a little glitter and stole some Christmas ornaments out of a basket I already had. Boy I love shopping at my own house! It is amazing how much you can do that, just look at what you have and move things around. The candle holder I already had, so I did have to buy ONE candle, and it was on sale...(love that!) And because I put up my nativity set and didn't use the leaf stuff, I stole/shopped it too...added a dish towel out of the drawer and there you go....my new table scape. Now for a sneak peek at what I have been up to. More later, I must leave something to post about in a few days, plus hopefully you will come back!

HAND WORK

I had to have some hand work to keep me busy during the Thanksgiving holiday. I am so happy with how the vines turned out. I just laid the wool strips on the backing and whipped stitched around them with floss.
Of course it has to be cream!
It has lamb tongues on the ends. I will show you when it is finished.
So, now onto the back, which I am piecing a star, then I must hand embroider the lamb tongues. It will be nice on my table.

DINNER ANYONE?

This is how our Thanksgiving table looked. We had a great time with two of my children, three grandchildren, my sister, her husband and son....we had a very nice day. Hope yours was good too.
How did yours look?
I made these party favors for place settings. They turned out so cute.

You can get these darling cone favor boxes here. Check out all their great paper things...they are a good price, and they ship really fast! Hope your day was a good one.....

~~You ask, "Why am I on the computer today and not shopping?" Because I am not a Black Friday kind of person...nothing is worth that much savings! I may go out later today, but NEVER early in the mornings and NEVER stand in line....it is FREEZING here. Perhaps if I lived in Southern CA!

"GRANDMA LET'S MAKE ME A SKIRT!"

On Saturday my granddaughter called and asked, "Grandma can I come and play with you at your house?" So we did....later during the day, we were in the sewing room and she said, "Let's make me a skirt!" SO WE DID! Every picture she had to pose....I don't know where they learn that stuff....she is a "girly girl" but none of her family is....she must have come that way! I LOVE IT! So fun to sew for a "girly girl."

I COULDN'T STAND IT!

I couldn't stand the thought of not having any thing to sew on for Christmas. I had a couple of gift certificates to the Quilted Heart fabric shop, so I RAN (drove fast) to get some fabric!
Or course I spent WAY more than the gift certificates...but who is counting right? IT'S CHRISTMAS! Now of course I can't show you exactly what I bought because some of you who read my blog may be getting something, but these are the colors! I came home and immediately started sewing! Christmas sewing sure can heal the soul! I think because you think of that person the entire time you are sewing for them! I hope you have some Christmas sewing of your own!

WHEN THE COLD WIND BLOWS

When the cold wind blows here in South eastern Idaho all I want to do is stay inside, turn up the fire, bake and sew. Here are the fruits of my labor....minus a few pieces!

My friend was sewing on Christmas pajamas for her grand kids the other day....nothing gets me in the mood for Christmas more than the first snow and sewing Christmas pajamas. When my kids were little, I ALWAYS made Christmas pajamas. I miss that.
